The Department’s role is to advance Australia’s national interest. This involves working on strengthening Australia’s security and enhances Australia’s prosperity.
Digital Garden’s brief was to analyse and redesign DFAT’s Intranet which is used by its 5500 employees in 90 embassies and consulates around the world. The key target audiences are staff charged with finding critical policy and procedural information often in pressured diplomatic scenarios. They have to sort through a vast amount of information quickly.
Digital Garden structured user investigations involving representatives of every target audience segment. We carried out over 30 one on one interviews to uncover people’s usage patterns, wants, needs, frustrations and recommendations. Iterations of wire frames expressed concepts capturing the users’ inputs and resulted in an intranet that had a nice balance of browse and search capabilities with additional quick access tools. The design templates were coupled with Oracles’ Enterprise CMS giving DFAT’s new intranet system a long shelf life.
We have also developed front end solutions for Oracles’ Enterprise CMS for the following clients: DEH, RACQ and QBE.
