Design brief

The Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) is the independent prosecuting authority for the state of NSW.

After working through a redesign project for their public website, ODPP came to Digital Garden looking to develop a website based on the new design language created.

Their main requirement was to move the website off the GovCMS platform onto Drupal 9, and to provide an enterprise hosting solution.

Prosecution Guidelines

Prosecution Guidelines

Using the Drupal book module, Digital Garden was able to digitise ODPP’s most important set of guidelines. These guidelines set out the general principles for the initiation and conduct of criminal prosecutions.

Users are able to view the guidelines by way of chapters and a glossary. The guidelines also feature Apache Solr search allowing users to search for key terms and chapters within this area of the website only.

Forms

Forms

Digital Garden created multiple forms on the site to assist ODPP in capturing witness feedback after court proceedings, formal complaints and registration requests for the legal panel.

A range of features were implemented here, such as:

  • Automatic, periodic deletion of form responses for privacy and security
  • The ability to manually delete a form from the CMS via a submission email
  • The ability to send full form responses to a separate internal platform via a submission email
Single Sign On (SSO)

Single Sign On (SSO)

Single Sign On was integrated with Drupal to allow ODPP to use their in-house Microsoft Azure credentials to access the CMS.

This integrated authentication service allows CMS users to seamlessly transition between programs and maintain one set of credentials for all services. With a large number of content writers and publishers, it was essential for the new ODPP website to allow for this ease of use.

Results

Digital Garden created an easy to use, accessible website made for a high-level of community engagement. ODPP continues to work with Digital Garden to satisfy the needs of those moving through the public prosecutions system.
